Mount Macedon Winery is a boutique, cool-climate winery, restaurant, cellar door, wine tasting venue, wedding and event destination in Woodend, in the heart of the Macedon Ranges. The Macedon Ranges has a long and fascinating history, and our story is part of it.

Set on the western slopes of Mount Macedon overlooking the Black Forest Valley, MMW sits at 680m above sea level, one of the highest altitude wineries in Australia.

Mount Macedon Winery resides on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung country. Before it became Mount Macedon Winery, the property was known as 'Geburrh', the local Indigenous name for Mount Macedon.

The fertile volcanic soil here was first farmed as a dairy, then a blueberry farm, before the first vines were planted in 1989 by Don and Pam Ludby. In the years that followed, the vineyard even had ties to Olivia Newton-John's own wine label, Koala Blue.

Now under the ownership of Dylan and Elisha Grimes, Mount Macedon Winery continues that legacy. At almost 700 metres above sea level, our vines have clung to the mountainside since 1989, widely regarded as some of the toughest growing conditions of any vineyard on mainland Australia, a reputation we wear with pride.
